Benefits of Being A Cadet
Cadet organisations aim to give young people aged 12 - 18 an experience that will help them grow into the person they want to be in a safe and friendly environment. Through various activities and adventures the Cadets learn teamwork, respect, loyalty, self-confidence, commitment, self-discipline, honesty and how to be the best version of themselves. Whether or not a Cadet goes on to enlist in the Armed Services, as some do, the benefits acquired through being a Cadet are invaluable as they move into the wider world.
Reasons to Affiliate
Most Livery Companies, including the Worshipful Company of Gunmakers, have associations with several Units of the UK’s regular Armed Forces. These are commitments to support the UK’s Armed Forces community, demonstrating their public support for serving personnel, veterans and their families.
In the same vein, the Worshipful Company of Gunmakers is affiliated with three Cadet Units, to help each of them with bringing about the life-enhancing opportunities that being a Cadet can result in. This assistance may be financial, donating a motivational trophy to be competed for, offering opportunities to take part in Company events or providing access to useful contacts that the Unit might not have. Close contact is maintained with each Unit, to be better aware of arising needs and to enjoy being in the presence of such motivated young people and their Unit’s staff.
