The Gunmakers Trust

Supporting apprentices in the British Gun Trade through annual bursary awards, mentor support, experience days and networking support.

The Gunmakers Trust (formerly the Gunmakers’ Company Charitable Trust) was established in 2003, with the primary objective of supporting apprentices in the British Gunmaking Trade.

Since 2007, this has been done via an annual bursary award, paid monthly over a 4-year apprenticeship period. At the end of the bursary period, it is hoped that the Apprentice will apply to the Certification Panel (within the Worshipful Company of Gunmakers) for formal certification in their chosen specialist field.

The Trust is currently able to support 10 annual bursaries at any one time, across a number of British Gunmakers and Gunsmiths up and down the country. This ensures that the traditional intangible heritage craft skills involved in British Gunmaking (such as stocking, actioning, engraving and barrel-making) are preserved for future generations.

The Trust's support for these valuable apprenticeship places is only made possible through the generous donations from individuals, businesses and Patrons. If you would like to help the Trust achieve its charitable objectives, please support it in one of the following ways :

  • A one-off donation to The Gunmakers Trust
  • A monthly standing order payment to The Gunmakers Trust
  • A donation of a firearm that you no longer require which we can then auction

To make a financial donation, please follow the link to the Trust's website above. To donate a firearm which the Trust can then auction to raise funds, please email the Trust at : info@gunmakerstrust.org
