The Inter-Livery Clay Shoot, 15/16 May 2024

Well, football didn’t come home this summer, but The Horners’ Trophy most certainly did – and is now engraved and proudly displayed in our Court Room.  Yes, yet again, our Court Team triumphed.  In fact, our five teams did very well ably captained for yet another year by Carl Langton.

The Court Team, shooting on the first day, won with 315 points; Team 3 shared the Alan Ritson Cup with The Watermen & Lightermen, tying on 334 points, and Mark O’Dowd again won the John Howard Memorial Cup for Top Individual Liveryman Side-by-Side shoot on 66.  Mark just pipped Fred Gascoigne of the Mercers’ Company in their almost annual joust for this honour.  In the thirteen years of this trophy Mark has won eight times!

The shoot, now in its 30 th year, is a two-day event and was held for the second year at The West London Shooting School by kind permission of Past Master Roddy Richmond-Watson.  Our thanks to Roddy, Chris Parr and Richard Farrand for their skill and patience in organising such a hugely successful event.  Its popularity warrants early advertisement and so next year the dates are 14/15 May 2025.

Can we field a Ladies’ Team next year?  Surely, we can rise to the challenge.
