Army Cadets enjoy challenges of Annual Camp

Past Master Emeritus John Jackman and Liveryman John Allen both received a warm welcome from Colonel Larry Davis, Commandant of  City of London and North East Sector Army Cadet Force, and his fellow officers when they attended their annual camp at Crowborough last Sunday. The visit provided them with an opportunity to witness the Sector’s three companies competing against each other in various contests, and to see elements of the training that the cadets were undergoing during the fortnight they were in camp.

At the initial briefing, the Honorary Colonel, Dominic Reid, better known to us as the City Pageantmaster,  expressed his appreciation for the support that the Sector receives from the Gunmakers and several other livery companies. Over lunch there was an opportunity to talk to some of the cadets, all of whom were clearly enjoying the experience of camp and learning new skills.

No.2 Company, to which the Gunmakers is affiliated, came second in the Drill Competition and the Tug of War, and was overall runner up in the tournament. The Gunmakers’ Trophy was presented to Cadet Lance Corporal Totski (pictured below), the highest scoring cadet from No.2 Company in the Full Bore Rifle Shooting Competition.
