Army Cadets put through their paces

The Master, Upper Warden, and the Clerk  were made very welcome by Colonel Jaqui Fogerty, her fellow officers, and the army cadets of the City of London and North East Sector, when they attended their annual camp at Swynnerton last Sunday. The visit provided them with an opportunity to witness the Sector’s four companies competing against each other in various contests, and to see elements of the training that the cadets were undergoing during the fortnight they were in camp.

No.2 Company, to which the Gunmakers is affiliated, won the Raft Race and the Drill Competition, but just missed out on becoming overall winners when they came second in the Tug of War. The Gunmakers’ Trophy was presented by the Master to Cadet Crudington (pictured below), the highest scoring cadet from No.2 Company in the Full Bore Rifle Shooting Competition.

Over lunch there was an opportunity to talk to Colonel Fogerty and her colleagues, all of whom were clearly very appreciative of the support that the Sector receives from the Gunmakers and several other livery companies.
