Horners’ Trophy returns to the Proof House – Interlivery Clay Shoot, 18 May 2023
The Gunmakers’ Company fielded 5 teams this year at the Interlivery Clay Shoot, held for the first time in its 29 years at the West London Shooting School.
The weather was kind and the sun shone down on the participating liverymen who represented over 70 companies. The enjoyment was clear as they tackled the varied targets, including a challenging four man 80-bird flush.
With the pressure on the Gunmakers to achieve results, the Court team were victorious, winning the Horners’ Trophy, a clear 35 targets ahead of the Farriers who were second. The prize included £500 for the winning company’s charity.
Liveryman Mark O’Dowd shared the top side by side score with a very impressive 71 ex 80, with the side by side team as a whole achieving 2nd place in their category. Liveryman Colin Burrows shot a magnificent 75 ex 80 being pipped into second place by only one clay. The full score board is …here…
After the excitement of the shooting, the various teams retreated to the marquee for a very enjoyable lunch and to socialise and discuss the clays that got away.
A great day was had by all and credit must go to Past Master Roddy Richmond-Watson and his team for running such a smooth event at WLSS and to Chris Parr and Richard Farrand for their overall organisation of this hugely popular and successful interlivery competition. And a big thank you also to the Master, Rowlie McBeath for supporting the teams on the day.
(Next year’s event is on 15 and 16 May 2024)
