Livery visit to the Purdey factory, 4 May 2022

A small group of Gunmakers were privileged to visit and tour the Purday factory in Hammersmith on 4 May.

Very much “working” factory, this was a rare opportunity to witness first hand the place traditional methods of manufacture meet state of the art technology. The group met many of the artisans who create these very fine ‘best English’ guns.  The three hour tour of the shop floor covered all aspects of factory activity and culminated in a visit to “the Hub” where treasures such as Her Majesty The Queen’s first .410 is housed.

Lunch in a local pub afterwards provided the opportunity to compare notes and enjoy the society of Gunmakers.

Numbers for such visits are naturally limited, but it proved to be extremely popular and the hope is to repeat it or something similar each year.
