Poppy Planting at the Tower

Today all the Company staff joined forces and played a small part in producing the stunning field of poppies at the Tower of London that commemorated those who fell in the First World War. Led by the Chairman of the Proof House Committee, Past Master Paul Cort, we assembled in the moat and planted some 500 of the handmade ceramic poppies, before repairing to a local hostelry for a well-earned pint of beer. Surrounded by this sea of red, one could not help but reflect on the huge sacrifice that so many have made, both during and since the First World War, in order to defend us.
