Smoke and smiles all round – the summer clays and family barbeque, 9 July 2021

The West London Shooting School was the venue for the inaugural Summer Clays & Family Barbeque held on Friday 9 July 2021.

With newly purchased Gunmakers caps, Liverymen, their family and friends were challenged to a wide variety of targets, which included sporting clays and the chance to try a rifle at the running boar. Liveryman Jamie Ede and his wife Serena very generously offered black powder, and the thrill of experiencing shooting with a 150 year old muzzle loader – smoke and smiles all round, with proceeds from participants (£250) going to the GCCT. The course cumulated at the flush where all teams were able to shoot simultaneously at a sequence of clays including driven, high tower, rabbits and flash clays.

Shooting over, it was time to repair to the clubhouse terrace to enjoy a barbeque, glass of something refreshing and to catch up with fellow Liverymen and friends. A wonderful afternoon and great to see young people and non shooters participating in our sport.

The Livery Committee would like to thank the team at West London for their warm welcome and for hosting such a memorable day. And many thanks also to all the Liverymen and their families who turned out to support this event, which it is hoped can become a regular feature in the Company Calendar.
