The Inter Livery Cask Race 2025, 21 June 2025

The Gunmakers Team competed in the fourth annual Coopers’ Company ‘Cask Race’ at The Guildhall last Saturday. This is a thrilling and unique competition where teams of four roll oak barrels ( casks ) cross the Guildhall Yard, in a relay style race, embracing the fun, tradition and fellowship of the Livery Companies.

Many different teams entered the event including The Worshipful Company of Innkeepers, Coopers, Merchant Taylors, Educators, Communicators, Household Calvary and other City organisations.

The Gunmakers team put on an excellent show, in searing temperatures winning all three of their heats and entered the final knock out stages. Unfortunately, we were knocked out by the Household Calvary who were running two teams and rotating these teams to gain fresh legs !!

The overall winners were the Merchant Taylors in a very close final against the Coopers.
