Waterloo Livery Lunch

Liverymen and their guests filled Cutlers’ Hall on 18 June to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo.  This was the first occasion on which the Company had held a Livery Lunch away from the Proof House and was enjoyed by all who attended.  The menu left one in no doubt as to the decisive battle that was being remembered and comprised the following courses.

Pan Fried Frogs Legs
Watercress Cream Sauce

Beef Wellington
Gebhard Leberecht von Blücher Sauce
Hougoumont Potatoes
Seventh Coalition Vegetables

Trio of Belgian Chocolate Mousse
Triumphant Coffee Crème Anglaise

The principal guest was Lieutenant General Sir Barney White-Spunner KCB CBE who gave a fascinating account of the battle through the eyes of a soldier
